More About Music Together®
All children are musical, therefore all adults are musical too!
The Music Together Philosophy
Many people mistakenly believe that only a talented few are musical and the rest of us are doomed to sing out of tune and dance with two left feet. But the truth is, we are all born musical. In a supportive environment, children learn to dance and sing as naturally as they learn to walk and talk. This knowledge helped Music Together to develop a four-point philosophy that guides our program to this day.
Our Four Basic Principles:
- All children are musical.
- All children can achieve basic music competence – the ability to sing in tune and move with accurate rhythm.
- The participation and modeling of parents and caregivers – regardless of their musical ability – are essential to a child’s musical growth.
- Young children’s musical growth occurs best in a playful, musically rich, and developmentally appropriate setting
“My daughter (2 3/4 yrs old) loves her music class and teacher so much that she has been telling her friends at day care about it. I had a day-care mom ask me “Does Kate take some sort of music or dance class? My son keeps telling me he wants to go to Kate’s music class. “It has really given her confidence and skills that I couldn’t have taught her by myself at home, so THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!”
