Music Together® Online

This winter, music class is coming to you, right in your own home!

Introducing... Music Together Online, Portland Style!

Join us for our winter session!
Classes start January 11.

The Music Together program was first offered in Portland more than 20 years ago when our directors recognized their mutual passion for helping families discover the joy of making music as a family and with other members of their community. Since then, Music Together of Portland has placed the utmost value on in-person, community-oriented music classes. We believe that is the best way to experience music...TOGETHER!

However, during this unprecedented time in which our beloved, in-person classes are not an option, we are excited to bring The Joy of Family Music® right into your living room with Music Together Online!

You asked; we answered! Now you can choose between two options: a weekly Zoom class or... Music Together On Demand! Don't let schedule conflicts keep you from joining the musical fun! Register for our mixed-age, On Demand classes with Teacher Maggie--weekly pre-recorded videos that allow you to "go to" music class when it's convenient for your family. On Demand familes will also have access to all of our online Bonus Content and the option to attend two live Zoom classes during the winter session.

See our schedule for weekly class offerings.

What is included in Music Together Online?

  • One small-group, interactive class via Zoom, every week with your teacher OR one On Demand, mixed-age, pre-recorded class to enjoy at your family's convenience. Instead of going to your class once a week, your class will come to you--via computer, tablet, or phone! Weekly classes will last approximately 40 minutes.
  • Supplemental videos from the Music Together of Portland teaching crew. Videos including covers of your favorite songs, musical crafts, lullabies, parent education, and more will be available on our private Facebook page and the Enrolled Families section of our website.
  • Access to family resources from Music Together Worldwide, including coloring pages and musical games.
  • Music collection (songbook, CD, download code) specific to your class. You can choose to pick up your materials in person at various locations the first week of classes, or have your materials shipped to you.

We know screen time isn't generally recommended for this age group, but here's the difference: YOU! When children stare at a screen and passively receive information, they don't take it in the same way, nor do they learn in the same way as when they have the active participation of a parent or caregiver. So, just like in our classrooms, you are still your child's most important music teacher. Your child will interact with their teacher and their classmates, but it is truly the interaction with you that will continue to support their musical development all week long. We'll give you lots of ideas for fun ways to play with these songs at home while we're all looking for activities to fill our days!
