Generations Classes

If you've ever wished for an extra set or two of grandparents, we've got the class for you!

Generations Classes
Birth to 5 years, with adults and seniors from Providence ElderPlace

Due to changes at ElderPlace, we are currently only able to offer this class on a pop-up basis, based on location availability. Keep an eye on the Latest News section of our website home page for more information on Generations class availability.

Music Together® Generations is a mixed-age music class with the sweetest twist— the addition of elder participants! Join us for an intergenerational music making experience with your child and seniors from Providence ElderPlace at Irvington Village.

As the children’s music-learning is nurtured, families also foster new and important relationships with the senior participants. ElderPlace residents look forward to the children's lively visits and the chance to share memories and stories. The additional cognitive, physical, and emotional benefits for both children and elders make the Generations class a heartwarming win-win for everyone.

You'll value bringing this class into your child's foundational years. And if you haven't had much experience with older adults, you'll love what this class does for you, too!

"Kudos to Music Together for the intergenerational classes with the ElderPlace residents: what a win-win situation for the children and the seniors. Our teacher is great at creating a wonderful musical community. The only gripe I have is that sometimes I get a little choked up by the sweet interactions between the residents and the children!"

"I love the intergenerational class! It's lovely to see the kids interact with the elders, and the elders delight in the kids. My daughter is in a language-explosion stage of development (19 months) and is really responding to music in a way that she didn't before. Our teacher is wonderful--so enthusiastic, warm, and expressive. And the elders sing loudly and beautifully!"
